British Petroleum (BP)
With global warming becoming a bigger and bigger issue, energy companies are finding the responsibility of making changes lying at their front doors because they are the ones producing fossil fuels instead of alternate energies. BP was the first energy company to respond to this challenge by setting standards below what was legally required. BP has several reasons for choosing energy efficiency: 1) they want their environmental commitment to become part of what they do and to be complimentary to existing business programs already underway, 2) they want to differentiate BP from the competition and, 3) they see an opportunity to create great shareholder value.
